Grandma’s Recipe – enjoy potato wedges!
Rustic Salt & Pepper Wedges
The traditional potato wedges are always a favorite! Deliciously crisp and crunchy, nothing can beat the simple salt & pepper flavour. Serve them in paper cornettes, or a large bowl. They will leave you wanting more…so make sure you cook ample!
There are many flavours that can be used to complement these simple potato wedges. Use a vinegar spray along with sea salt for a salt and vinegar flavour, or use another traditional favorite; chicken salt. The wedges can also be dipped in tomato, BBQ or many other flavoursome sauces.
Wedges are a great snack on a cold day, they go well with almost any hot meal combination and they are so simple to make! Just follow the easy instructions above and you will be feasting on crispy hot potato wedges in no time at all.
There is a flavour out there for everyone so make sure you experiment with different ones till you find yours – though we think the traditional salt & pepper is the tastiest of all!
8 medium sized potatoes
Oil for deep frying
Salt & pepper for serving
Fill deep-fryer with oil and heat to 180 degrees. Scrub potatoes under running water until clean, pat dry with paper towels. Cut potatoes into wedges (approx. 8 – 12 per potato) and place into saucepan. Fill saucepan with water to cover potato wedges and bring to the boil. Boil until wedges are easily pierced with a skewer. Drain water from wedges. Take tongs and gently place wedges into deep-fryer basket and lower into the oil. Fry for approximately 8 mins or until wedges are crunchy and golden in colour. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels. Grind salt and pepper over the wedges to serve. Enjoy!
